Overview
The Iwahig Firefly Watching Area is located in Puerto Princesa in Palawan. As its name suggests, it is the perfect spot to see fireflies at night. Tours here are managed by the Iwahig community.
Since the fireflies can usually be found in mangrove trees along the Iwahig River, the best way to see them is through an Iwatig firefly watching cruise. The cruise will take around 30 to 45 minutes, depending on how long you want to stop at the trees to admire the fireflies.
Apart from the fireflies, you can also admire the views of the night sky during your visit. Because there is less pollution and fewer lights here, you will be able to get a better view. You might even see bioluminescent plankton light up the river water if you’re lucky.
